Second graphics card problem

I have a GTX660 as my main card.

I have installed a GTX580 into my second pcie slot to use separately and not for graphics purposes.

The card is not being detected.

It has power as I can see the fans spinning.
I have the correct drivers.

I did have another GTX660 installed in the second slot and that worked fine.
I want to change to this 580 as it is supposed to be much faster at calculations.

Is there any obvious reason the second card is not being detected?

I will try plugging in the monitor and see what happens.
If that fails, I will try plugging it in the main pcie slot.

My motherboard does not do sli, it does crossfire but I don't want to use that.
It worked fine with the same card although it was a different manufacturer.

Problem solved!

There are two power connectors on this card. A six and an eight pin connection.
I thought I only needed to connect one of them depending on what plug I had available from my power supply.
It needs both connected and is now all lit up (Didn't know it had led's) and being detected!
