Second-Guessing Myself, Help Needed

So I think the best Intel equivilent would be the [...] which is also 3.00GHz

Wrong. Clock for clock, the Intel chips are currently the fastest around. Repeat after me: "It's not all about clock speed, it's also about how much actual work is done per clock cycle..."

Edit: Sorry, I hadn't read the entire thread when I posted. :o

I got it from eBay, which is why I only paid £210 instead of £250-£280.

LOL chances are your seller offloaded the GTS to get the new 8800GT! If that's the case he's got a better deal as he gets better performance with the GT for £50 less. If you head over to the 8800GT discussion thread at graphics card forum you'll see many have done this.

BUT that doesn't mean to say the GTS 640mb is a bad card, it's not it's just the GT is faster.

The Intel equivalent to the a 6000+ @ 3Ghz X2 is E6750 @ 2.66Ghz, it performs better in most cases even if you don't overclock. If you have the money for E6850 then you might as well go for a G0 Q6600, but then really you should overclock it so it performs better in application that doesn't utilise 4 cores.
