Second Hand Phase Change Choices?

Just had a look around and seen pictures of a standard GT runnning without load at -71c. Now I know the Mach sensors read off, but it's consistantly 18c-20c.

Mine goes nowhere near -71c unloaded. -45c withe the fans on normal.

Is that without a CPU or while the CPU is at idle? I should've said I meant without CPU. :)

I guess we'll find out for sure when we see some CPU action.

Going to PCB laquer the back, nail varnish round the socket then a sticky neoprene sheet on top. Don't really want to take any chances, and all that stuff will come off with IPA. :)

ArchAngel, that's definitey a standard Mach II, it may have been regassed though. -56c with no load sounds a tad high, maybe somone with a GT can run theirs without a CPU and see what they get.

Now that I've tried Liquid Tape I'm not going back - brush on liquid latex that hardens in place to waterproof everything, and can be pealed off when not needed!

I had no idea it came off that easily, I'd assumed it would be a nighmare. I'll definitely give it a go now. :)

At idle I get -48 on the display and -26 in mbm5 (dfi nforce4)
under load of my 3500 winchester at 2.57 with 1.55v on prime 95 this becomes -38 and -5

Not looking good>?

Fair enough, I thought -71c was pretty low for a standard unit even though the sensor is off. Just had a look at one of the reviews for the GT to get that figure from.

thats looking absolutely bang on for what you think you've bought, with the higher spec head etc I was getting roughly similar temps with a slightly higher volted X2 so I wouldn't be at all concerned.

In fact, I'd buy it off you ;)

No... no I wouldn't

yes I would!

argh!
