Hey guys and gals, just got my shiney new 2500k today and an Asus P8P67 Pro motherboard. I am using a Corsair A70 cooler and all within a Cooler Master HAF-X case.

Have a look at this screen shot if you can and just give your opinion on this overclock and the associated temps.

Cheers, Mark.

Oh and if you could tell me the coding for resizing the image that would be great heh :).

Personally i'de knock it down to 4.8 and prolong the life of the chip.
You wont notice a decrease in 200mhz..
As for image size just use photoshop and resize it to something like 1024x768

+1

I have to agreed with Subbytna, I'm also running a 2500K, mines at 4.6ghz down from 4.8ghz don't even noticed any difference.

I stayed up quite late last night getting acustomed to all the options in the Asus bios and managed to get the vcore down from 1.37v to 1.34v by using the DIGI + VRM options. I believe they supply extra power when it's needed and decrease the power when it's not.

Anyway I'm still at 5ghz against everybody's better judgement heh ;> but my max temps have dropped by about 10c. I've ran prime95 and intel burn test for 20 runs without a hickup so far.

ATM I'm more than happy with this chip, it's surpassed all my expectations by a fair bit.

Now onto the memory... :D

Temps are quite high for a short run on prime. If you run IBT on max you'll be well up in the 80's C.
Like above I'd drop it back to 4.6GHz for 24/7 use.

Arrr... you sneaked that post in while I was typing lol

Haha I am a sneaky one :).

Your looking perfectly fine at that mate imo, you got a very good cpu there.

Under normal day to day usage your not going to be hitting the same high temps as when stressing with IBT & P95 etc anyway.

going to say it again, said it lots..

never seen anyone bust a cpu with a sensible clock, which this is. If you tried to shove 1.6v into it or something then perhaps but I reckon you'd need to be deliberately destructive to mess it up.
