Hi All,

As some of you may already seen, I have posted on the Members Market for parts to build a 2nd PC. Ideally, this will be a small MicroAtx build, so it can be tucked away in the corner.

This PC will be only used to capture and stream only, using a Blackmagic Intensity Pro + possibly an AMD 6XXX processor + 8gb XMS3 Ram.

So, I thought I would ask the question. Would this be enough to suitably stream? I have little experience with the latest gen of AMD processors so want to ensure it will do the job.

Many Thanks,

PS. My internet isn't an issue 75down / 15up.

I'd potentially look at a slightly beefier CPU.

I used to just about stream at 720p (30fps) using my old acer pc (Athlon X2 215) & a hardware h.264 encoder. It was just about capable of transcoding.

The Intensity pro is a lot more resource intensive. My mate would max out his i7 965 recording at 1080p and then transcoding to 480p & 720p on the fly

Have you considered something like the AVerMedia Live Gamer HD?

Well it's funny you say that about the BM card, I wasn't fully aware of that.

This is where my first idea of a second PC came from because of the resource hit using the capture card is having.

If it's a known issue to be very resource heavy then yes I could look at getting a different capture card - say the Avermedia.

The best solution for me is to have it all on the same PC when streaming. I know there is the limit of no 120hz monitor but I was willing to give it a go.

Only problem is - the Avermedia cards are not cheap and would be a pretty expensive experiment.

PS. I recently brought another 8gb RAM to try and solve my resource hit using the card does, it didn't work/ Hence now I'm looking at a second PC as an alternative route.
