Second PCI-Express slot?

Is it possible to fit a PCIe graphics card into the secondary PCIe slot on your motherboard? I'm after a 1900XTX, and obviously they use dual slot coolers - my Zalman NB heatsink would not allow me to fit one into the primary slot.

I couldn't find anything in forum search so if anyone knows, would appreciate it.

Yes, secondary graphics slot. Motherboard is an ASUS SLI Deluxe.

I haven't got enough clearance - my 7800GT basically touches the NB heatsink.

I know it seems like I've got an answer for everything, but I've tried that too. These Zalman NB heatsinks are very tall, so there's absolutely no way of using the primary PCIe slot for a dual slot cooled card.

The only option is to use the second graphics slot.

I just need to know if that approach works basically.
