Friend rents a room in a house, new housemates have just moved in and want Virgin, however mate already has a phone and Internet line from virgin. Before the other house mates used to share Internet over wireless with next door to save money, but now there agency has said otherwise.
Can he get a second virgin line in? Can he get a DSL line in over the phone line, or will a BT line be required, not much info on Virgin site about multiple lines.

You can't have their cable broadband twice and you can't use another ADSL ISP on their phone line, as I'm pretty sure it isn't a 'normal' line.

I don't understand the problem though - he has Virgin already and they want Virgin?

Aye VM phonelines (if you're in a cable area) terminate at their cabs, none of which have ADSL equipment (as they provide internet over a different line).

IIRC if the house is split into flats, or you can convince VM that it is different residential units in the same building you can sometimes get them to open a second account at the address, but their current system will not allow for two internet connections on one account to be created (at least not easily from what i've heard).

If he/they want ADSL they'll need a BT line as well as a Virgin one.
