Secondary HDD gone?

Dear all,

My secondary HD (Samsung 1TB) is not recognised in Windows 8.1 any more.

What is strange is: 1) I can see in it the BIOS; 2) I can boot even from it - it has a bootable partition on it.

However, when I boot from my SSD, I can't see it anymore in Windows. It used to work perfectly as a storage drive along my SSD system drive.

I tried to retrieve it through Disk Management, using refresh or rescan disks, but it didn't help.

Any ideas, anyone?

Does it show in device manager?

Change the drive letter on it

If they have same letter then one will disappear from windows

Nope, I just see the SSD and the printer's cd reader..

Where can I change its letter? It doesn't show anywhere in Windows. In the BIOS? Drives are allocated letters in the BIOS?

I can only see the sytem drive there. Are you suggesting I change the letter of the system drive?

Please post a screenshot of what you see in disk management...it will be easier for us to help!

If its not showing in disk manager then some things up,don't change the system drive letter

What MB is it? Enabled hot swap in the BIOS for the port where the Samsung is connected

It was not enabled, but I've put it on and it didn't change anything.

The MB is an Asus P8P67.

I think so. It was working until I had one blue screen. I just don't see how it could damage the HDD as a secondary drive, when it still works as a bootable drive!

Probably what I need to do next.

What baffles me is that it can boot on that secondary hard drive, just by unplugging the SSD. So the HD works, and it works fine plugged as it is.

Try clearing the CMOS,it will lose any oc tho so make a note of oc settings first,leave out the MB CMOS battery for 30 mins then put back in n try
