Secondhand 2011 MBA vs New 2012 MBA

This is doing my nut, I know which one makes sense financially, but thought I would throw it out there. Basically looking to get an MBA, and my options are:

Secondhand Sandybridge 255gb 13.3" with 2 years AppleCare, 10 months old and with the i7 1.8ghz upgrade for £900

or

New Ivy Bridge 256gb via HE store, with AppleCare, 8gb ram, i7 2.ghz upgrade for £1245.

Basic uses is coding, basic design work, some VM work, and tooling about on the interwebs.

So is the newer one worth the extra £345...or even £245 if I downgrade to the i5 1.8ghz.

p.s I have read the thread below mine, but that seemed a slightly different scenario

No i dont think so. Spend the 345 on accessories etc like adaptors zagg invisheild, wifi m+kb etc external storage

Why not get the stock new MBA with 8GB RAM?

How much memory with the SB machine? Presuming 8GB, I'd say the second hand machine, as it is not that much slower than the new machine (and certainly not £245 slower).
