Hi there,

If buying a used D70 what would you class as to be a acceptable amount of

shutter actuations?

I'm new to SLR and will probably keep the camera a few years before

upgrading.

What would you class as young, being middle aged? old aged?

Thanks

How often are you going to use it? The shutter in the D50 is rated for about 50,000 actuations, so work out how long it will take you to reach that given how much you typically shoot. If it's taken 25k, how long will it realistically take you to put another 25k through it?

I want to start shooting quite a bit and get my head around all the settings

etc..

So I would say a lot.

Whats the D70's rated shutter actuations?

I purchased 2nd hand Nikon D70 from the OcUk members market which had around 10k and the shutter died after another 10k in my hands.

It can all depend. realistically I would say around 25-30k in average.

The D50/D70s might be better since it was released after the D70.

Seems you just had some bad luck.

What condition was the camera in when you bought it?

Maybe it was treated badly in the previous owners care...

Thank you, I googled after posting and have tried the above two but the first does not show it and the 2nd does not work for my Nikon D60

It was in good nick, then again I took it to Mongolian country side and did a bit of "long way around " type of journey and the shutter died slowly.

Just checked one of the 1st photos I shot with the D70 and the shutter count was 8774.

Wow what a conicidence:o
