Secure PC advice

Hi all,

Looking at a secure system for work and wasn't sure where to put this.

We're looking at a none networked PC in a secure room.

Single internal hdd to be used as a backup system. 2 portable hdd's to be used to move information between the networked server and the secure pc.

We only want live information to be accessible via the network, once work is completed it is to be transferred onto the portable drives and backed up to the none networked pc.

Anyone any suggestions for the best way to do this? Windows would be best but was considering a raspi as it's cheap and sd card can be locked up as well, then just use 3 encrypted hdds.

Encryption and security is of the highest priority but it's all really new to me.

Basically, if someone broke in and stole them, we don't want them to be able to read it.

Any advice or help?

Depends how paranoid you are :). For data, ECC is a must really. Raspi on USB is hardly reliable. Xeon e3 should do and are fairly cheap.

Then windows if you must... personally I'd go for RHEL/centos with LUKS & ext4 on a software raid1, that should be pretty bulletproof.

If you're not too scared, put it somewhere really hard to find, otherwise fireproof safe is good not sure how you'd get power in though :)

and his back up portable drives should be left on a shelf as not to inconvenience any thieves :D

I think ideally we'd just like to use the portable drives, stores nothing but an OS on the PC, then lock the drives up in a safe.

Thanks for the suggestions, it's given me some things to research. :)

How much data are you talking here about here? It will depend on how much you are backing up and how much you need to store at any one given point.

not a lot tbh, currently sitting at around 100-200BG in total, maybe that amount each year unless we get another contract.
