Secure VOIP

Please can anyone recommend some secure VOIP software? From what I gather Skype isn't that secure - was looking at Jitsi (https://jitsi.org/), does anyone use this or have a good alternative? Preferably platform independent.

Depends on how secure you need it, Skype may not be as secure as some but there are so many calls made on it compared to other services you're call is likely lost in the noise.

I don't really know how to answer the question "how secure do you need it?" How secure can I have VOIP conversations with people in other countries?

I'd just like to talk to someone in another country without any criminals, hackers, governments evesdropping on our conversation. Is that even possible?

Do you just want the content of the call private or metadata as well? Do you want any of the above people to know the call happened?

What is your use case?

Well that's one of my 4 questions answered. I really want to help but I need to know what your requirements and use case is before I can give any specific advice because it can change the whole solution.

Site-to-site VPN, run whatever you want inside the tunnel. But also all of the other questions.

I think what you need is Skype. Trust me no one cares that you're calling your buddy in a different country. Unless of course you're plotting a campaign of some kind.

Yes I know, but it's just one person talking to his m8 in another country. VPN connections etc are a little overkill unless they are talking about sitting up the next worldwide drug ring.

You definitely seem worried. I'd dban all your discs get rid of your phone and start a mathematical code with your buddy. You should write with your own blood because pens are dodgy :eek:
