Secure web browsing - why does it have to be so hard?

I've tried a few programs now, and none work.


I'm after something that I can use to hide/encrypt etc for when I'm on the wireless network.


Anyone got a program suggestion that actually works, and doesn't charge you a monthly fee?

Use Putty / VPN client to forward requests on HTTP ports
