Hi, have some important files on my laptop. I was thinking if it was stolen, people would just have to crack my windows 10 password to get access to them.

What is the best way to safeguard these files and other information on this laptop.

I have some on a SSD, is there anyway to encrypt a SSD with 256 bit encryption?

Setup bitlocker with a strong password if you can. Otherwise store it on an encrypted partition with something like veracrypt (might be alternatives available, been a while since I've looked)

I believe bitlocker is on, as in windows it says device encryption is turned on.

Yeh but you can also buy drives that you need a passcode before the drive data is accessable.

Cant see any, what do I search for. Managed to find one with a physical keypad on it. I guess that's not the one your talking about.
