Im planning on setting up my sub in my boot next week and i was wondering how others secure their sub boxes to stop them moving around ?

Mine has a 12" RE speaker and a 400watt amp screwed to the back of it so once its all in place the weight its pretty hefty.

Thanks

I just got some self-adhesive velcro and use that straight onto the boot floor. Hasn't budged a centimetre since I put it in and is very easy to remove if you need access to the spare wheel or simply need the space for a trip or 2.

Same as Matthew.M really. I used self-adhesive Velcro on the underside of the sub (the prickly side) and then that attaches nicely to the carpet itself..
Easy. :)

Both my amp and sub are held down with velcro, the 'hook' side attaches straight on to the carpet, sticks very well.

I dont see the point in attaching the velctro the the carpet, lets face it the carpet isnt exactly a secure starting point. I can see sticking the velctro directly onto the boot floor though.

I'll go see if i can source some heavy duty stuff online

one bolt through the bottom of the box and through the boot floor. Not going anywhere, plus excellent security measure, cant knick it without undoing all the screws holding the sub in.

I used the velcro method but used sticky-back velcro. I stuck it between the bottom of the sub box and the boot (boot didnt have any carpet). For the whole 6 months i drove the car it didnt move an inch. It was easy to take the sub box in and out as well as i had to do a couple of times.
The sticky-back velcro i bought cost £10 for 1 meter of heavy duty stuff. I bought it from Homebase (it included the prickly and the hooks sided strips). Might be expensive but damn worth it.
I also velcro'd my amp onto the top of my sub box, again that didnt move at all.

This thread reminds me, i need to secure my sub box in my new car :(

also worth mentioning in crashes people have been seriously hurt and killed when heavy objects in the boot have flown forward and hit the driver in the head.

things like toolboxes and objects on the parcel shelf. Proper velcro is fantastic stuff.

Genuine question...do you have any links or anything for that at all?
The reason I ask is that we see this said everytime someone mentions putting a sub in their boot.
If a subwoofer with box will pass through the metal of a rear seat back and then through the drivers seat into the back of the head then I would have thought the same would be true of a 4 litre bottle of Rola Cola/tin of beans/can of de-icer and car manufacturers would be pimping some form of enhanced boot containment safety system for when you have your shopping in there too.
