Just wondered if anyone on here had any experience securing SharePoint Services. We looking to deploy WSS to a number of our clients but the AntiVirus licensing costs are crippling.

Any feadback on this would be great!

Dan.

we run our's over ssl to the outside world, but internally we dont really bther internally other than standard logins.
How many are using it and is it internal external, what sort of security are you after?

Aha at last a brain to pick :D

The deployment plan is pretty much sorted apart from the AntiVius element. There will be two uses of this service, one for internal staff (less than 20) and the other is to provide a hosted solution to our existing clients (userbase unknown but we can assume some between 100-200).

As a service provider it is not feasible to license AntiVirus on a per user basis so a per server model will need to be adopted, however, looking at prices from Symantec and the like our deployment simply isn't big enough to justify the cost (approx £2.5K for a server license).

What AV are you using partycan?

I did hear a rumour that ClamAV can be used in conjunction with SharePoint Services but have found no documentation supporting this nor have I managed to get it to work?! If anyone has some info on ClamAV / ClamWin I'd be very interested as it's free! :)
