Hi,

Is security clearance transferable between jobs?
So if I got SC at my current job, if I quit can I put the SC on my CV for the 10(?) years it remains active?

Your security clearance is valid if you move between jobs.

However, if you do not hold a post that requires security clearance for 12 month or more your clearance lapses.

That's my understanding anyway.

Need to get my SC sorted as it's incredilbly valuable. I most cases, for contractors, you can't get it until you have a job and you can't get a job until you have it.

SC i think is transferable, BC, the basic one i dont think is. Also a time limit on them, i think BC is 12 months and SC is 10 years?

I think.

Make sure you have a contact name for who is holding your SC clearance. There's usually an HR bod that deals with it. Can save you a lot of time and hassle.

BC/CTC used to be 2 years, not sure what it is now. SC is a 10yr clearance but as Asprilla says only stays valid if you require that clearance.
