Hi

not great on the wireless fron but it all works

i'm on xp - old laptop

noticed on the "view wireless networks" screen

my network shows as WPA - fair enuf

neighbours network showed as "security enabled" but no WPA or WEP

2 other networks show as "security-enabled wireless network (WPA)"

q) suprised my neighbours doesnt show WPA or WEP ?

is this sort of thing normal ?

or is all my software and skill sadly out of date . . .

thanks

aye, security enabled means wep, and then it tells you if you have wpa or wpa2 on.

wep + wpa easy to crack for a seasoned cracker.

is there any software you could recommend to show what types of security they have - wep wap etc. ?

i'm not asking for hacking but i'm defo curious about this lack of wep wpa info

not sure mine can do wpa-2 or any "new fangled" stuff !

well basically it will stell if you have wpa or wpa2 so the other(security enabled is wep) that is all you need.

been experimenting with my router

seems its my laptop software that cannot show anything newer than WPA
so all the newer ones just show as security enabled

seems i can only connect with WPA as laptop and card are a bit out of date

picked a long key though

thanks
