I can’t understand why they never. CrazyAs an ex bouncer this sounds far too much like making their own lives difficult. Much easier just to sling you out on your ear if they believed there was an issue.
For that reason "I'M OOT!"

Of course I didn’t just say oh ok officer, I was furious I was in there for two hours. This is why nobody believes you, me included.
Nobody in their right mind would be such a wet blanket that after being locked up for 2 hours in a basement, the police arrive and instead of going crazy to press charges against the bouncers for false imprisonment, you just said 'Oh ok officer' and went home? Yea sure. If that's what really happened then you need to grow a pair.
We were both sat on a shared table in the venue, we were having a great evening, no raised voices, nothing. We are both very happyWere you arguing with your wife before this happened, or talking in loud or raised voices?
We need more facts.
They said they won’t do anything further, need to go through the police, who also won’t do anythingIf you write to the bar I seriously suggest a spell checker.
Omg haha
That’s a idea, do you think the press would be interested in thisGo to the press then! But of course, you can't do that can you because it's all made up.
Thanks for the advice and helpful repliesWelcome to OcUK?
If what you're saying is true, I would suggest not letting it go. I certainly wouldn't. Contact the SIA and complain and do not let the Police fob you off. There should be a way to complain about their behavior, if you feel they've treated you poorly. Maybe contact citizens advice?
I'm not saying I believe this happened. But if it did, how much time and effort are you willing to put in to achieve 'justice', so to speak?
As explained that certainly is not the case I have been with my wife 11 years and have a great marriageDo you know what code Angela is? If a woman feels threatened by a man she's with then she can make an Angela reference to the staff - typically "is Angela working tonight". The staff are then meant to take you somewhere safe and secure and call the police if you or they feel it's necessary.
Perhaps your wife felt like you were harassing her and used code Angela to get away from you.
I have emailed quite a few tonight. Hopefully hear back soonI think you should go to all the papers, yes, absolutely.
In the hope of getting whatMake sure you practice your best compo face
And say what though. The police keep claiming there allowed to hold us until they get therewhy make a knob of yourself in the local rag - make a formal complaint to the police ombudsman (IPCC i think they are) if plod isn't doing their duty.
Even if they think a domestic issue has occurredyou can't lock someone in a room.
Again, I wonder how the self-defence argument would go in this scenario; if some random person in the street jumped on me and pinned me to the floor for no reason* then I certainly wouldn't just lie there passively and let them do whatever they wanted with me!
* e.g. in the case of mistaken identity, there would be "no reason" as far as I was aware
There's a key requirement within that legislation:
"A person other than a constable may arrest without a warrant—
(a)anyone who is in the act of committing an indictable offence;
(b)anyone whom he has reasonable grounds for suspecting to be committing an indictable offence."
Assuming the OP's story is true, then this incident occurred purely on the word of a random stranger at their table saying something to the bouncer.
I certainly wouldn't want to be the person trying to justify that to a judge as "reasonable grounds"!
NationalWhich newspaper national or a local?
Are you certain that you or your Mrs didn't do anything to warrant the situation you found yourself in?
Well I’m glad the think that, I’ll be taking this all the way+1 - it wouldn't be possible to make a defence in this instance that it was reasonable to lock up 2 people in 2 separate rooms for over 2hours. hence why i don't believe it happened. the bouncers would be opening themselves and the business up to all sorts of legal come back. to be honest, if the story is true i might get myself over to that bar and see if i can 'engineer' a way to get my self locked up too - the compo claim would be pretty tasty.![]()
Waiting on the sergeant calling, there’s a starting pointall the way where? you've already said the police have given you the cold shoulder so where you gonna go with it now?
Not a bad idea actually, mybe this morning would be interested tooYou get in there Gary - I am sure all the nationals will be queing up to publish this.
