Security guards - bad experience

Last club I went to, I’d have been happy to be locked in a room in the basement for a couple of with the person who took me there.

I feel you chaps are not taking this very serious matter seriously enough. I mean the bouncers threatened to cover Angela in batter - its the end of civilisation as we know it.

So it was one of "those" clubs!

It’s Scotland, we’ll batter anything.

Not sure on the legality of effectively putting someone under citizens arrest without reasonable grounds that they were committing a serious enough offence for that to be legitimate.

Well there arguing it was two people in the club that brought it to the clubs attention there was a domestic issue. Even though me and my wife told them everything was fine and was clearly a set up

I’ll mybe give Citzeens advice a call tomorrow

As an ex bouncer this sounds far too much like making their own lives difficult. Much easier just to sling you out on your ear if they believed there was an issue.

For that reason "I'M OOT!"
I can’t understand why they never. Crazy

This is why nobody believes you, me included.

Nobody in their right mind would be such a wet blanket that after being locked up for 2 hours in a basement, the police arrive and instead of going crazy to press charges against the bouncers for false imprisonment, you just said 'Oh ok officer' and went home? Yea sure. If that's what really happened then you need to grow a pair.

This whole safeguarding thing is a whole another thing now mind compared to a few years ago and venues can get into trouble for not tackling it.

That may be but escorting the person causing the issue from the venue while keeping the victim safe within the venue (if the victim is comfortable with that solution) is a perfectly reasonable way to do that without tying up the vast majority of your security team for a large part of the evening.

Were you arguing with your wife before this happened, or talking in loud or raised voices?

We need more facts.

I wonder what the legality would be of "defending" yourself in this scenario as well. If you've effectively been kidnapped with (as far as you're aware) no reason, then it would be interesting to see if you could claim self-defence if you injured the "kidnappers" in an effort to escape - after all, you have no idea of their true intentions, so could potentially argue you were in fear for your life.

Of course this is all a hypothetical scenario based on the fabrication in the OP :D

"try and batter into my wife" - is that what it sounds like ? Translation needed.

It does raise a question of possible misinterpretation.

Perhaps the OP was overheard promising his wife a "good battering" on their return home?

His romantic intentions may have been misunderstood as something more sinister?
