Security software for spyware/viruses etc

Ok, just found out my paypal account got broken into on the missus account and would like your lots advice.

Shes running 32-bit Vista Home Premium and Avast free edition with spyware search & destroy. Looking for recommendations on the best software to keep it clean 99.99% of the time ignoring new threats until definitions come out. She also uses gaming so will need to account for that not to slow the games down.

Ok I've gone with Avira for my antivirus. Any suggestions on the malware issues? Also tried Comodo Firewall I think is the spelling but she complains that it slows her computer down when using the net whatever settings its on.
 
Don't bother with a 3rd party firewall as the one in Vista is perfectly fine - especially if you are connected to the internet through a router.

I'd recommend Kasperky Internet Security, since it's one application that covers everything from virus & spyware to phishing prevention :)
