Hi guys, just a little help needed hope you guys can help, much appreciated.

Is this posible, instead of folking out shed loads of money, got a few spare systems flying around so thought I could build one up myself using oneof them.

Minimum setup

24/7 Recording on to PC HDD
Wireless Camera's (if possible)

Yes you could, but you would need a few cheapo webcams and some decent software I would imagine, you could get away with virtual dub but there are probably countless other better freeware.

You can get wireless webcams, but you will find them crap unless you splash out some real money. Avoid the genius IP Camera. Its very very bad. The management software barely works, the internet interface also rarely works. Its the only thing ive ever had to send back by the DSR.

Still needs to be powered by the wall. But means you don't need to run a network cable as well.

Specs depends on how many channels you want to monitor/record simultaneously.
For 4 channels full motion monitoring a 2Ghz processor with 1GB RAM is a start.
If you just want to record/monitor 1 channel then a cheap tv card in a 1ghz 512mb pc might do the job.
For 2 or more channels you need a pc dvr card, price depends on the card capabilites cheapo
ones can be had around a tenner expensive units can do full motion capture with audio on all
channels but they are expensive but if you want to gamble you can get a decently price spec
card from the bay. Most of these cards come from china or taiwan so if you run into problems with it, your on your own.
