Securom Issues

I was thinking about buying Bioshock and possibly Mass Effect for my laptop (MacBook running XP Pro in Boot Camp, Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz, 4GB DDR3 RAM, NVIDIA 9400M) but there seem to be a lot of people complaining about Securom. Has anyone here had any major issues with this software?

I'm only using the Windows partition for games and a few other programs (AdAware, Avast!, CCleaner, ZoneAlarm, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Samsung PC Studio). Is Securom mainly an issue for those involved in piracy?

In the countless games ive played over the years that use SecuROM, either in a disk check form or online activation, ive never had a problem. Most people hate securom mainly because of the new online activation thats being used quite a bit recently, the securom disk check never raised any eyebrows :).

My understanding was that SecuROM was really only an issue for those not involved in piracy, as the scene releases of these games had the SecuROM element removed. IIRC this was one of the main things that got people's backs up about SecuROM as it only caused problems for the legitimate consumer (I've never had an issue with it so I can't speak as to how bad those 'problems' are).

Bioshock has removed activation faffing now anyways

It was only there at the start

Well I legitimately purchased GRID and Securicom wouldn't let me play it before.
If it does stop you just download a crack if you have actually bought it.
