Just reading up on SED here and it looks like it's the next big thing in panel design. Might even tempt me to upgrade my excellent Mitsubishi CRT. So what's the latest ETA for SED? Will there still be a risk of dead pixels?
Hopefully many more years. They're a step back IMO as they need glass on the front and glass (no matter what marketing coatings they put on it) will reflect light and give eye strain.
On the other hand 100,000:1 contrast ratio, superb black depth, perfect viewing angles, superior colour reproduction and CRT-like reponse time sound good though. Odd not to want the choice.
