I'm starting to run out of space, as a temporary solution. I thought i might be able to get access to my old xbox hard drive through my router.

It doesnt seem to want to play, has anyone managed it?

I have an xbox on my network but i have played with it. There are many guides out there, but it can't be disscused here i think. Im not even sure that with a reguar old xbox you can ftp into the hard drive (which is only 8gig anyway?) unless you mod it?

I've done this with an original xbox. You do need to mod it though, and it's not illigal to do so. It's illigal to copy games etc onto the HD of it, but modding it just to mess round or run linux on it is ok so i've read.

If your wanting to do so, use Evolution X it allows you to an 120GB HD in the console for FTP storage etc.

As long as you do not install copyrighted material it is legal to mod the xbox. I did the same with mine and using Evolution X I can connect to it via FTP.

Sorry for being slightly OT, but I've just bought a xBox for modding :)

I want to put in a bigger hard drive etc, but I was told you were able to put whatever size you wanted in there? I was just about to hit the "Buy" botton, when I saw this thread

I was after a 250 GB Seagate...

Anyone care to elaborate ;)

Cheers,

SW.

I don't know about the 120GB limit, I have seen an XBox with a 200GB HD working fine using Evolution X.
