Seeing Artist/Song in the Top Bar?

another recommendation for youcontrol:tunes, I really like the fact that you can change the rating of the song from the task bar rather than having to goto/open itunes to change it.

You can do that with CoverSutra;

I know, I'm usually very careful for hotlinking, chaulk one down to "having a off day"

Oh, and now I'll call you Goose; you'll be my wingman :p;)

I don't want to be bloody Goose. I'm Ice. :cool: (the smiley is called 'cool, geddit?)

I think we'll chalk it down to you losing your concentration, due to constantly checking the shipment status of your Mac Pro.

fap fap fap fap *check status* fap fap fap

I think I've only checked it 4 times today, and a bit gutted I can't track it on UPS or TNT.

Well, look at it like this..

I checked at 8am when I started work
I checked at 10am to see if they'd updated it (Given that 8am seemed early)
I checked at 2pm to see if they'd done any late updates
I checked at 4pm to see if they'd given me a tracking number

Then I hit the computer.

What spec you going for Ice? :cool:

I love that you've not only checked it 4 times, but are able to give references to the times in which you've checked it. :D I need say no more.

It will be the base spec with the GTS, Airport and Bluetooth. Then I'll stick 8gb into it after that.

Dilemma at the moment is that if I wait until next January (or the next revision) I can get the highest end model they do. Something similar to the spec you got, with the CPUs. It's so far away though.

Not content with 8 cores, but wanting them to be 3.2ghz too. I hate the greed Apple stirs in me.

I was in the same boat, until I thought of it like this;

When the next upgrade comes (likely January 09) it'll be a new chipset altogether, which means you'll be a "revision 1" buyer.. not sure if that means anything anymore, but still. It also means you'll be thinking about the "bump" update that will envitably follow later in the year that will ultimately "polish" the true 2009 range.

By buying now you're getting the mature chipset, and can enjoy it for that much longer. Also, January 2009 is one HELL of a long wait without the machine.. I just couldn't cope without a Mac to myself, and ended up selling the things I didn't use (i.e. my Canon 400D which I hadn't used in months) to get the best I could afford.

I also went 3.2GHz because then it'll be better for resale and it won't feel like it's outdated so quickly, at least for the next 4-6 months anyway.

I suppose I might just go for it. I've sold everything I can in order to get to this stage (without taking away things I do use).

I have a MacBook Pro at the moment linked up to a 27" Dell monitor. It's alright but I can just feel it straining at times. Photoshop isn't really a pleasure to use on it either and I will inevitably want to get the Final Cut Studio 2 software on there, when I can afford it. With that comes the hard drive requirements and slinging an external into a usb port doesn't really make for a pleasurable experience. (Spin ups from inactive use)

I can then possibly treat myself to two 30" cinema displays when they get updated.

Promise me you won't sell this for a bit by the way. ;) By a bit I mean more than 3 weeks.

I promise.

If anything I'll keep this for a good year and a half (until late 2009) and see what's happening with things.

I know what you mean about the MacBook Pro, for what I did it was fine, but I would never consider it for the uses I've got planned for this Mac Pro :)
