Ahoy fellow Overclockers i've recently acquired this computer:

http://www1.uk.shopping.com/Acer-Ve...al-Discs-2gb-Ram-320gb-H/info#keyFeaturesArea (i know it's not anywhere near a high end gaming computer)
i've come across and issue where the built in graphics card (Intel G31 Express chipset) will not run anygames. So far i've tried many games and they all display an error stating that the chipset is unsuported.

So this is where i seek help i've got around £50 to buy a new card and i'm not sure which one would compliment my system the most. i'm interested in playing fairly new games. So i would need suggestions on a new card from this (or any online shop) i'm not sure what would fit in my system, but i know i have a pci express slot.
Thanks for the help it would be greatly appreciated :)

Best to list the specs and lose the competitor mate :)

Also to answer your question, a second hand 4850/4870 seems like a good choice.

The link you've provided doesn't give PSU in the PC, but most of the other links on Google list the PSU as 250W. While a 4870 would be brilliant (and I'd love to recommend it as I have on one a well known auction site with a day to go!) but you will definitely have to upgrade your PSU to run one. You'd need a PSU with 2 x 6-pin PCI-E power adapters to run a 4870. The best current graphics card that doesn't require any of these power adapters on your PSU is the 5670, but even that lists a 500W PSU as a requirement.

To be honest mate, to run any games you are probably looking at a PSU upgrade and a card, which definitely puts you firmly in the second hand market at your budget.

This article might be useful for working out what to try looking out for:

and the final page gives a useful hierarchy chart showing how the cards you do find in your price range rank against each other.

If you've got a smallish monitor, an old Nvidia 9500 could do the trick. Very low power requirements and it'll play all the latest games in medium at 1440x900. £20ish on the auction site.

Try and source a Gainward or Palit 9800GT green, these cards were more or less identical to the normal 9800GT albeit with slightly lower clock speeds, you should be able to find one for around £50-£60.

The good thing about them was they didn't require any external power, instead taking all the power they needed from the PCI-E slot (75W maximum), so hopefully your current PSU should just about be OK.
