Hi all,
i have an I5 2500K cpu and a mid range mother board (msi z68a-g45(b3))

i have been able to run this system at 4.7GHZ @1.36v no problems for the last 6 months or so, X47 multiplyer.

But i was trying to get some more out of it today but it does not seem to work i have uped the multiplyer and uped the vcore but it iver seems to not boot at all or load windows then crash/bluecscreen .

i have tryed for example X49 @4.9ghz and uped the vcore in stages right up to 1.41 but it loads ok then after a few mins crashes have i reached the limits of my board ect or do i need to stop beeing scared and up the Vcore even more?

you may have reached the limit of your chips overclocking potential, every chip is different. Why do you need to overclock farther anyway? I cant imagine an extra 200mhz would yield any tangible difference.

What are your RAM timings by the way? You might be able to push the chip a bit further if you slacken them a bit, but it really probably isn't worth it

Just to see if it was possible thats all the 4.9 was just an example. the chip still runs real cool idel at 38c and load of only 55 after a few hours

Fair enough. At 4.7 I can only assume you have hit your limit. Maybe try going up in smaller increments i.e. .01 or .05?

Maybe i will try this but the multiplyer seems to up it at 100mhz at a time also i have tryed differant voltage up to 1.41 but maybe i am trying to runn this chip with out enough juce,

I mean what speed have other people got with a simmiler type of rig
