Seemingly inexplicable poor FPS in games

Well, bear in mind that a stock 6300 (at a *lower* clock speed) can outperform a stock 8150 sometimes in things that use multiple cores. Bump up the clock by 500MHz over the 8150 and you've got even more.

You're wording what you're saying really poorly.

I'm assuming what you're trying to say, is due to instruction sets, it's very possible for games to show more than 10 percent, but linking that with core usage is a fallacy.
The core clock part makes zero sense, as his CPU would always be running the same clock regardless of the amount of cores he's using.

An 8150 can't normally get to 5GHz. A 6300 can usually get to 5GHz even on air, as long as the board's decent (which it is). That's why he went for the 6350 over the 8320, higher overclocking, where the extra two cores on the 8320 wouldn't likely to get much use anyway. i.e. 6 PD cores at 5GHz vs 8 PD cores at ~4.8GHz (compared to his current 8 BD cores at 4.5GHz).

Lol.
Use profiles with your fx6300.

And you were trying 5ghz only the other week?
Which is what I mean by typically, your fx8150 was running 4.8ghz for a while?

Yeah...I changed boards, couldn't remember the settings and it didn't seem stable so went back to my original Crosshair V but the OS was corrupt so did a fresh install and left it at 4.5Ghz. Think I've probably got the 4.8 profile on the BIOS but I have probably messed about with it trying to get to 5.0Ghz. I did get to a stable 4.9Ghz and even got over 5.0Ghz but, I think the corruption had happened by then and was getting random BSODs relating to corrupt OS.

I nearly lost a tonne of work so there's no way I was going to try to overclocking again. Just stuck with what I know works and keeps temps uber low. I lost 2 days work which is a lot of money, made it up ok but it's not ok putting my work system at risk. This is why I'm going to have the 8150 in another system that is simply there to back everything up to each day.

Summin like that yeah. And I went with the 6350 to maximise my chances of getting a gem of a chip to overclock as AMD chooses its best chips for the higher clocked retail chips!

Have you checked to see if you have AMD DUAL CORE OPTIMISER installed in add/remove programs . Some games come with this piece of software REMOVE it asap. it installs for intel systems too, you dont need it if running Win7/8 or latest gen hardware it only relates to older AMD cpus and pre Win 7.

this could totally be the cause of your issue as recently uninstalling it from my system it gave me an FPS increase of 5-10 depending on game and check my GPU its awful :D.

Never seen that. Don't think I have it.
