Get a Retail CPU so you get a heatsink too;)

What case+PSU do you have?

Do you have SATA drives?

• decent cooler - http://www.vortez.net/articles_pages/cooler_master_hyper_612s_cpu_cooler_review,1.html
• got a 64bit OS for the 16GB RAM?

The price difference between a i7 2600K and the 2700K isnt worth it for the 100Mhz extra core speed.

thanks for the help stulid saved me some money 2 any thing else i could do to make it better with out just spending the money for the sake of it

You could try a 8GB RAM kit - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-094-KS

But the motherboard is worth keeping as its Ivybridge ready, does Crossfire/SLI at 8X/8X, it also has a good selection of display outputs (1 x D-Sub, 1 x DVI-D, 1x Display port, 1 x HDMI) to connect to a monitor while you wait for GFX cards.

thanks again for your help what difference will the the 8g ram make compared to the 16g in the shopping list

Cant say, never used 16GB of RAM personally.

But people have specced systems here before for video editing/3d modeling etc and gone straight to 16GB skipping 8GB.
