Went to get some new tyres today and was going to get tracking done as well, but they told me the bolt or whatever has seized and i need to get it un seized before they can track it? He had a look to see if it actually needed tracking and said it was out by like 5 degrees.

Surely they should have the kit to un seize it?

Also will a garage un seize it? Ask them where to get it done and they didn't seem to know!

If it was out by 5 degrees the car would be borderline undriveable.

There is not a kit for freeing off seized bolts/nuts, I expect he was referring to the retaining nut or the track rod itself, sometimes a bit of heat frees them off but you cant/shouldn't get steering components 'too' hot in case you weaken them.

A normal garage should be able to sort it but just be prewarned we have had to melt off track rod ends before now as they had become one with the track rod.

May have been 0.5 degrees cannot remember but he told me it wasn't to worry about but try to get it done as soon as possibly!
Does that mean a new track rod?... Gonna be costy

IF the garage doing the tracking can't even unseize a component and it prevents them doing the tracking, I'd use a different garage tbh.

This is true, was a bit disappointed when they turned around and said they couldn't do it. They are not a garage, only do tyres but saying that it is still a garage..!

Sorry for no replies guys garage have managed to un seize and track front wheels now, but have said that i will need new nuts and they have rounded them getting them un stuck
