I just got a Dell 2005 FPW sily cheap.

Currently running a Fujitsu Siemens S2110 laptop

GFX is a ATI Radeon Xpress 200M Series.

I have got it running as a 2nd screen off the lappy but i want to know cani make it the master so nowt shows on the laptop but all on the Dell 2005 FPW.

I'm gonna use a USB keybord, already use a USB mouse

Oh just to show it setup currently

If I understand you correctly you want to display your laptop only on the external screen.

This is fairly easy to do, usually you have at least 3 modes for laptop display. On Dell laptops you need to press the FN key and then usually its F8 this will allow you to switch between.

Laptop only display
Laptop and External display
External display only

It should also be possible to change this through the Display Properties in Windows.

Yeah, exactly what i normaly see on the laptop screen i want to only be able to see it on the external. IE lappy is off.

I tired my F10 which has a screen on there does nothing.

I have a feeling it's uner video in bios!

Internal, auto, external

Slected external in the bios, it did all of the bios boot, windows loading then it jumped back on the laptop one.

Grr

Download Ultramon - using the Display profiles in there make your monitor the primary and disable the laptop screen.

Okay i've downloaded it but i still can't get it to work.

It just aint giving me any option to set the Dell 2005 FPW as a primary which i what i want

Once you select Extend My desktop option for your monitor the primary option should be enabled- is that happening?

I've enadble the secondry. Exteneded my desktop to it as thats the only way it'll power on and still no option

Do i need to restart at all

This happens on my dell laptop at work - the screen on the laptop gets locked by the graphics card driver software as primary. There is an option in the driver software to output to monitor at which point I can make the monitor the primary and disable the laptop screen.

You'll have to dig around and see if there's something similar with your graphics card.

Maybe if you update your graphics driver, I have seen in the past that newer drivers has more features and sometimes offers easier control of screens for your laptop.

It's weird that your key with the monitor doesn't allow you to switch your graphics output. On Dell you have to old in another key to get it to work not sure if its the same on your lappy.

I got bord and AGV somehow was removed!!

So i did a fresh install and it works whooo

I'll get photos inabit

I've set in BIOS External, left it on compensate.

Today i re-installed and what not! Now it works, mirroing i think. Laptop screen is always on but the Dell is running now too.

Res is off somewhat but it can't be helped due to the GFX not being powerfull enough!

Desktop soon!

Anyway er

Thanks to all that have helped me on this!

Not bad for £129

annoyingly you can't move the primary display away from the laptop screen with ati mobility cards. Nvidia go cards will let you do it no probs though. Xpress ones are onboard though so you can't swap, unlucky.
