A follow up from my last LFW thread, didn't get to do any backstage work this time around but got to cover more shows. It was a very wet fashion week, so doing street style wasn't very fun, although the watching the attention seekers having to run for cover from a surprise shower was quite hilarious. It's a very surreal event to cover, the fashion world is definitely in a bubble - I often overheard conversations between tube workers at Temple discussing what crazy things they've seen as I would head back home after a day's coverage. I'll start with a bit of street style from around Somerset House and Freemason's Hall:

That's Pandemonia, a 7ft latex doll who's apparently a man underneath all that plastic. I also saw someone dressed as a giant baby.

Probably my favourite street style shot of the day, took it while I was waiting to be let into a show.

Now a few picks from two presentations/shows:

This was my favourite 'show' - I was expecting the typical runway show but the designer - Natasha Zinko - mixed things up a bit by striking the runway and putting a set in place and then dotting models around the area. Bumped into the editor of Russian Vogue there too!

Yup, I'm still a fan of your work :)

Thanks Andrew!

Nice.

How did you get into the shows?
Did you have a press pass to cover for somebody?

I walked by Somerset House a few days before it started and could see lots of stuff set up for it, but everything pointed to needing accreditation to be able to take photos.

Still, it looks like there were lots of opportunities just hanging about.

Thanks, I was there to cover for a friend's online magazine, so I had a press pass which gave me access to Somerset House itself, which meant I could talk to all the designers who were exhibiting their collections there - there's so much more to see than just the shows during LFW. For the shows themselves I had invites which were arranged by the magazine through the designer's PR, since my pass didn't give me access to the catwalks as well (which is what most of the bigger publications got). My pass gave me access to the photographer's lounge though (which was run by Canon Pro Services) so I took advantage of the free drinks fridge/free coffee there. You don't need a pass to access the courtyard itself (I saw many very bemused tourists wandering in throughout the week), and lots of the people who dress up and hang around at the main entrance to be shot by street style photographers don't have passes either - if you ask them who they're seeing that day they'll just respond with 'oh, just waiting for a friend.' A lot happens in the courtyard though, there were quite a few celebs/models wandering about going to shows.
