Hi,

I have just built my computer back up after changing the mobo and the cpu fan. It now wont power on and stay on and i dont know what to do about it.

Spec: gigabyte GA-965p-ds4 rev 3.3
Intel pentium d 930
1 gig corsair ram
512mb XFX graphics card
hyper power supply (600watts i think)

it powers on for about 15seconds then turns off, then onn again for 15secs, then off etc etc etc

the only beep code i got out of it was a set of 9 long beeps then it died again. That was after i disconected everything apart from 2 SATA hdd's and the dvd drive.

I think my wiring before i disconected everything was ok, i just dont know what could be causing this problem

HELP!!!

thanks in advance,
Chris

the manual says

1 long 1 shrot: DRAM or mobo error
1 long 2 short: monitor or display card error
1 long 3 short: keyboard error
1 long 9 short: BIOS ROM error
continuous long beeps: DRAM error
continuous short beeps: power error

tried it with 1 stick of memory and it gave loads of short beeps then turned off.

would i be right in thinking that this means my power supply is faulty?

Either it is faulty or it is not plugged in correctly to the motherboard.

Disconnect all HDD and optical drives from both the PSU and the motherboard.

Disconnect all peripherals except the keyboard and monitor.

Reseat both power connectors to the motherboard by unplugging them and plugging them in again.

Remove any cards such as soundcards etc.

Clear the CMOS.

Then see if it will POST.

it still does the same thing after going through that list.

i have built it back up again with the old components and it works fine so i think this points towards a mobo problem?

what should i do? send it back? try as many different components as i can?

is there any known problems with this particular board that have a definate solution i can try?
