Hi, I'm looking for some advice to upgrade my system.
Budget is fairly flexible probably around £700 is a sweet spot but looking for good value so happy to spend more and get a significant performance / stability increase but not interested in spending a lot just to eek out a bit more performance.

The system will be used for a bit of everything and performance will be measured more on the HD video editing than anything else.

The system I am moving from has been a rock. It's been the best system I have ever had in terms of stability and longevity but would like something now a bit more futureproof and to bring down the HD rendering times.

The system I have now is

intel core 2 q6600 2.4 clocked to 3ghz
4gb ram
samsung ssd 840 pro
2 x raid 0 sata disk sets
radeon hd 6870
asus p5q-e mobo
antec nine hundred case

I would look at taking the graphics card and SSD disk into the new system but would need everything else new
Can anyone recommend a rock solid mobo / processor / memory combo please probably based on a i7 with 16GB Ram.
Also a nice full sized case and power supply. The case sits on the desk behind the monitor so would like a fairly quiet fan as well.

thanks in advance

Thank you for the quick reply and taking the time to help me.

If possible I would like to give some love back to Asus for the past 5 years of hassle free computing and looking at the boards on the site would possibly go for the Asus Z87 SABERTOOTH or the Asus P8Z77-V Pro Motherboard to continue to support asus, get the 8xsata connections and possible better overclocking results? Anyone got any opinion on which is the better board? or objections to using one of these over the Gigabyte?

Also what would be a good fan for it to allow for some moderate overclocking whilst still being whisper quiet when not under load.
