Hi, I've just moved to London and I'm a first time poster looking for some help rebuilding my desktop.

I'm unsure where to plug the PCI-E cables into my power supply and if I should use 8 or 6 pins ( it seems really difficult to plug all 8 pins in since 2 of them are separated ? Should I plug all 8 pins or only 6?

I've attached photos of where I think the plugs should go? Are any of these right?

I appreciate any help.

Cheers

Hi and welcome to the forums. :)

I think you have that cable the wrong way around as that should be the gpu end. The idea is that you can use the same cable whether you have a 6 pin or 8 pin socket on the gpu. The other end should be a one piece 8 pin connector that plugs into the psu.

One bit of advice though, you see those two tabs on the top and bottom of the 2 pin plug in the bottom picture? That plug needs to be rotated 180 degrees so that those 2 tabs lock under the ones on the 6 pin plug.
