Self-Built PCs = No Hi-Def!?

I guess anyone looking to build their own HTPC (Mr Latte, etc) are screwed.

All this means is that my HD content will have to be pirate, I had no objections to buying it, but if they want to stop me building my own, then two fingers to them.
 
The point is, if I build myself a PC out of parts I've paid for, and then pay for an operating system for it, and then pay for a media player for it, why should I then pay for movies which are on a format which I'm going to have to crack to view.

The simple fact is, if this is true, I won't be spending money on films, whereas I was totally prepared to do that before.
 
True - it really depends what happens from this point. If self-built PCs will never be able to enjoy HD content then this is a massive case of shooting oneself in the foot. You only have to look around these parts to see how much people with self-built HTPCs are prepared to spend on entertainment.
