self cutting tap
"this item started to leak from the on_off tap after six uses"

I've always done them properly, not heard great reviews on the self cutting kits. If you don't fancy getting busy with a blowtorch (it can be very awkward under kitchen units) then compression fittings will be fine, that's how it's been done in my current house with a nice big gas type stop valve with a handle to shut it off.

Would not buy/10

Compression fitting at the least, solder if possible.

I bought a stopcock tap from B&Q for my kitchen refit, and it wasn't drilled. Luckily I noticed before fitting otherwise no water would have been able to flow through! So, having experienced that, I wouldn't trust the quality of a self cutting tap from there at all.

I bought the kit from B&Q years ago, it comes with the self cutting bit out door tap and a few meters of pipe to locate your tap. Brilliant bit of kit it's been flawless never had to bother with it again and I use it pretty much weekly washing the car etc!
