Hi all,

I am going to be going self employed soon and wondered what things I need to look out for.

I was self employed 10 years ago and dont really remember stuff.

I will be recording all wages and equipment. Anything else?

Any advice would be great :)

I am, and I shoot myself in the foot for doing it. For one reason. I don't like forcing prices.
People will try to take advantage of you constantly. If you give them an inch they will take a mile. You have to charge for everything!!! No matter what, because you have to take into account your holiday/sick/pension etc.
Don't price a job on how long the job will take like me, or you'll end up poor.

I hate it, 3 years and I want out.

Hopefully I wont get extorted. I will be working in gardening for a company but self employed as its a small company and the type of work also.

I dont mind the Gov site but its not really there for advice :) well i wont be earning more then £82k lol

its not earning £82k or more , its turning that over

@OP, any advice , from being self employed for 4.5 years ... don't do it

What so bad about being self employed? One friend and two family members are doing well from it and have been for over 7 years.

I will be taking the same path but in 8 years time after I completed my Microsoft Exams.

I still run my IT business on a part time basis (as well as doing a full time job)

I ran it for 3 years full time, money was decent, more than enough to live on but it
got a bit boring and at the end of the day you get sick etc = no money coming in

Its not for everyone, but think carefully, it is always a lot more work than you think it will be
