Has anyone made, or attempted to make one? How did it go?

I'm planning a trip to B&Q later with my stepdad as he used to work there in his teens to pick up some bits. I have an idea in mind for the layout and we have tools etc.

I've seen plenty scratch built pc cases and looks like an interesting challenge.

Have a look in the project logs forum mate, several scratch builds in there - both cases & desks

Built one for a school project over 10 years ago using clear acrylic. Had enough space for full ATX and watercooling using 3x 360mm rads which was overkill back then. Half way through building I changed the orientation of the case to cut down build time, a lot of it was rushed due to deadlines and the finished case is much bigger than I thought it would have been.

I built it by measuring components, making the tray for it all to sit on then building the rest around it. Looking back now I wouldn't even dare start unless I had a full set of plans ready. Post your ideas to get a second opinion as there might be better ways to do things :)

OK cheers. I've still yet to properly draw a draft but have the layout in my head atm, putting it onto Sketchup remains a challenge..
