Got my new system running and only really been playing MMO's but since i have a proper machine again I thought I might like to venture back into the world of FPS.

Keyboard and mouse the way its meant to be played

For Singleplayer id say Metro 2033

For Multiplayer id say BFBC2

Might go for Bad Company 2.

My favorite game of all time used to be Medal of Honor: Allied Assault.

Not played FPS since then and never got used to console FPS

I would avoid homefront if it's for single player. The AI is so bad.

A little more hardcore but Arma 2 and Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead are good and also have a look at the upcoming Red Orchestra 2.

There are loads of top first person shooters already been said. I will say stalker SoC is brilliant + complete mod. Also Bioshock is one of the best first person shooters on pc. Sure there are the classics such as half life 2 and it's episodes.

Farcry 1 and 2 are both good shooters and can be picked up cheap, is farcry 1 not free? im sure i read somewhere is was free?

with the rest thats already been mentioned i would say you have plenty to be getting on with for now.

Not anymore. There was a brief free release of it, which was supported by ads, but that was US only as far as I know, and ended years ago.
