People of OCUK I have been a critic of Vista, but I want you to sell me Vista. Persuade me to buy it!! Can you do it?

There must be quality drivers that are availble for my hardware which are compatible with Vista
- Asus A8V mobo with via chipset
- AGP HIS x1950 Pro 512MB (currently use 7.1 Omega drivers on XP)
- Sound Blaster Audigy 2
- Logitech Webcam (4 years old)
- Newcastle 3500
- 1gig Ultra X Geil Ram
- 200MB HDD.
-Wireless DG834pn Router

I want to use prety much the same software as I do now s is the following all compatible with Vista:
- Photoshop CS2
- Firefox 2
- AVG Free
- Samsung software for my d600
- Media PLayer Classic/ac3 filter/ffdshow
- Perfect Disk
- CCleaner
- Win Rar
- MSN Messenger 8
- Exact Audio Copy
- Google Earth
- Azeraus
- Command & Conquer 3

I might upgrade my Ram to 2GB, but am not so sure, and I'm getting a NEC DVDRewriter if I buy Vista along with a VX 3000 webcam if that's compatible with Vista.

Erm, don't all those programs and all that hardware currently work fine on your copy of XP?

Why don't you look at what features Vista offers you that XP doesn't. The features that you cannot live without. You might want to call a couple of CSI investigators, scully from the x-files, the CIA and the KGB to give you a hand, because you will find it tough going.

I have Vista Ultimate 32bit version on my older rig which has an ASUS A8V mobo and it works fine. Most of the apps should work and so should the other hardware. The 64 bit version may give you problems though.

Your my new Anti Vista best friend :)

No probs running Vista Ultimate 32bit on my A8V Deluxe mobo. Even got it to to work with my Soundblaster Live! and the onboard Promise IDE controller.

The only 'glitch', as it were, is the Nvidia drivers IMHO they're not really ready for mainstream yet. Too buggy! and no Nview for me twin screens which is making me

Really like Vista and will not be going back to XP, as it feels ancient in comparison. Once you've got used to using the intergrated search for finding anything (files; folders; control panel items; web history; mail etc) using XP brings you down to earth with a bump. I know you can add WDS to XP, but it always feels like a bolt-on and IME never particulary stable or responsive.

The security in Vista is also a lot better. IE7 has a protected mode where it runs at a restricted level, so you less likely to be affected by a page hijacks and other malicious activity.
