Hi,

Short version, came into a bit of luck and ordered a Ryzen 5 3600XT from two places (not OC) and although I cancelled one I still got it sent to my home :D "FREE CPU".

I was planning to build a new PC next year when the new AMD CPU and GPU were reasonable with stock but now that I have this should I buy a B550 motherboard and 16GB DDR4 and use the 3600XT or sell it for £220 and wait for a Ryzen 5600X?

(I am still rocking my old 8 year hardware for CPU/MOBO/RAM but I have upgraded to a RX580)

Is there any major difference in them for gaming?

Thanks

There's going to be no difference at all between the two with an RX580. The GPU will be the bottleneck in virtually every situation. Keep the 3600XT and save your money towards a better graphics card.

Major difference? Not really, but I the 5600X will be both a bit faster and use a bit less power doing so. If you can sell the 3600XT for a decent price and you are happy to wait for a £280 5600X that's the smart move.

Cheers,

Yeah if I used it just now the RX580 would be getting upgraded eventually it was more that I would have the CPU/MOBO/RAM updated before it came to that ...

But like mentioned originally I would have went 5600X and a new GPU... So selling this for £200-250 might be the best call and put it aside for the new build.

This current i5-4670k and RX580 will be given to my son for his bedroom :)

Just wasn't sure if the difference in 3600XT to 5600X was worth selling and rebuying for or just keep the 3600XT
