Selling a CAT C with a VIC mark

Hi so im selling a cat C right off that's got a vic mark against it. I have the V5 and the car is going to have the good bits stripped and then scrapped so its not going to make it onto the road again.

Do I fill out the V5 and transfer it over as per a standard transaction as the DVLA wont then send out another V5 until its been VIC checked...Its a bit confusing.

When they wrote my Prelude off Cat C they took the V5 off me and said they'd re issue it when it was VIC checked.

That was a few years ago though.

Oh and I sold it to a breakers without the V5.

Well I have the v5 but I thought id lost it. When I rang the dvla they said they couldn't issue the new v5 until the vic check.

However I want to sell it to private party as he wants the engine etc so do we do the v5 thing?
