Hi,

I've got an XB1 that I'm looking to sell. I've got some games downloaded, so no discs. Can I somehow sell these with the console?

Only was I can think is if I gave up my xbox live account to the new owner.

Would this work?

Is it all sounding a bit dodgy?

(sorry if it's a stupid question)

:D

Pretty sure the games are linked to the console and not gamertag. Mine had Forza on it when I nabbed it off a mate and I can play it with my login. Not sure if this is for every game though I'm afraid as I only had Forza.

They are linked to the console and your gamertag

Ie: You can play them on any xbox if you redownload
(if you redownload to a mates your mates sign in wont work)

Anyone can play them on your xbox (unless you change your home console)

So yes you could sell them stating that they will work. (no need to transfer xbox live account)

only if you gave them your xbox live account though.

which is a bit risky is it not as the xbox live account has your gamer tag (with all your friends/family), your address details, personal info and credit card details, etc.

i would want all them wiped first or put the new owners in before agreeing to such a deal.

I sold a ps3 with pre-installed games. Changed the password of all the accounts and left them in the console. I also had some PSN credit, so I gave him the password to that account.

Still have the details on my pc, but I'm sure he changed the password.

No. Does not require the xbox live account on the console.
(Can confirm having bought an xbox one on here and deleted metalface mark's profile but can still play his fifa)

The only worry then on the buyers side I guess is if you bought a new xbox, redownloaded the games and made it your "home"- DRM console then they'd no longer be able to play games on the xbox you sold.

exactly so you have to give them your xbox live account too if you want to include those games in the deal, otherwise you could stop them from playing those games at any time and they don't really own them then, so you cannot charge for them.

No. You would just hope they're trusting players, regardless you could just recover the account. Seems like Op has come to his conclusion.

So do you actually need to leave your account on the console before someone adds their own account to be able to use the downloaded games? or can you just remove your account and leave the games on the HDD, then they will still be playable by the person who adds an account later?

Yes, you can take off the account and they can still play.
