Hi!

I'd like to sell my faulty original XBOX 360. It has RROD, but prior to RROD it was only crashing when playing disc-based games, and was seemingly OK on hard disk content.

If I sell it, how am I going to remove my connection to XBOX live and so forth? I don't think my payment details are connected to it (I paid for it up-front with a code), but my lovefilm account will be on it, and obviously my XBOX live username.

I've been to the LoveFilm website, and my XBOX 360 was listed amongst my devices, and I've clicked "de-activate", so I presume that's sorted.

Any thoughts?

Cheers,

Karl

If you login via Xbox.com, there is an option to ask for your password next time you sign in on that console. Everything will be tied to your account and as you have a password, realistically the only thing they can do is wipe it.

Other option is to try and find someone who will let you quickly borrow their console so you can quickly wipe yours.

take the hard drive out and put it into another console and delete content? you could even take it into a local independant or game shop and get their help possibly?

OK cool.

My gamer tag isn't linked to my MSN account (which I'm led to believe requires an XBOX AGAIN!), so that's out.

Thanks guys.

Can you totally format the hard disk? How would the next person get a clean install on it if it's formatted entirely?

To format a storage device

Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and select System Settings.

Select Storage or Memory.

Select the storage device that you want to format and then press Y on your controller.

Select Format. You will see the following message:
This will delete all content on this device. Do you wish to continue?

Select Yes to format the storage device.

If you are asked to enter your console serial number, do so and then select Done. This step helps to guard against accidental formatting.

The console serial number is located on the back of the console and behind the oval door on the front of the console.
