I'm looking to sell my Pixel 7a. It's in good condition but I've never quite clicked with it.

It still has some value, so I want to sell it. The two questions I have are:

1 - How do I prepare it for sale? Is a factory reset secure enough?

2 - I'll probably take it to my local CEX as I prefer the direct nature of the sale. But, are there better deals out there with less hassle?

CEX will lowball you only take it there if your desperate to sell, you could try Facebook Marketplace I've sold a good few phones & other things on there in the past, but you need to have your wits about you plenty of scammers with fake banking apps etc.

i've had good success selling phones on fleabay.. usually at the prices i aim for.. just make sure you list it when you get those offers such as discounted/no selling fee.

Don't forget about the fees and postage costs. Remember to factor these into your asking price - I always assume I'm going to lose 12%'ish in fees / postage. Plus a little more for everyone who insists on offering stupid amounts and wants £10 off for no reason.

I've had good results with eBay personally - but nothing over about £400 for a phone

i can't remember what the offer was.. possibly the no fvf offer. (don't ask me on frequency as i don't know), which is the one to look out for.

I've sold phones and GPU (500-2k) during this offer and was paid out in full

Yeah I normally wait for the 80% off final value fee's to sell stuff, as that makes it a reasonable selling cost :)

Although its hit and miss when you get the offers, if at all on your account.

As @Ixon said, CEX doesn't offer as much in cash, but I like using them for vouchers. Trade-in voucher value tends to be +30% over their cash offers. They don't charge commission, so what they offer is what you get. Except occasionally they'll mark it down from grade A to grade B because they found scratches on my phone that I didn't see (I'm visually impaired). It also saves the hassle of receiving negative feedback on eBay / requests for a return or a partial refund, and I found the CEX have offered better trade-in rates than Music Magpie (CEX' nearest rival) for at least 5 years now. CEX Drop-And-Go is handy as I take the item into the Stafford store, then I get an email usually on the next working day with a voucher code.

A pity you didn’t post a few weeks ago when I dropped my phone on concrete…

However, I’m going to take a different tack to the others and suggest you keep it as a reserve / spare. After all, you never know when you’re going to accidentally break your main phone.

My main phone is now a lot cheaper than the 7a.i could get a spare that does what I need even cheaper.

I've sold phones on eBay before & actually never had a problem with the one's I've sold.

I recently sold my S24 Ultra on there when the 80% offer showed up, thing is with eBay if i smell a rat I'll cancel the order as I don't care if I get negative feedback I rather not loose or get a damaged phone back over a bit of feedback, done it twice now once with a Gaming Laptop & a S21 Ultra both buyers where suspicious so I cancelled, & they both left me negative feedback, but I put a reply under their negative feedback as to why I cancelled, funny enough those 2 I cancelled on are both not on eBay anymore.

CEX tried to diggle me on some headphones last year, first of all they tried downgrading them from an A to a B when there was not a mark on them, so i questioned that which they didn't like, so when i returned after their so called check they said the headphones where coming up as stolen, luckily i pulled up a receipt which I had saved on my phone.

I went home and checked this with checkmend and found they wasn't classed as stolen so i don't know what was going on here, I think the spotty smelly assistant didn't like me questioning him over the grade of the headphones.

fvf? What is it? And is it on ebay?
Yeah. I believe it’s the best offer where they don’t charge you the fee once sold so you get the full price you ask for.. minus shipping of course

Edit: checked mine and it’s 80% off. Still better than being charged. Check your offers before you list

Yeah for any expensive goods I flog on there, I make sure to include pics of the serial numbers etc which will be displayed on the advert, to cover my back and usually request only trusted traders are accepted.

I would review every offer and profile before accepting the bid
