Quick question for you all.
Lets say that you sell a car towards the end of the month and both parties use the old fashioned "posting of slips" to register the selling / acquiring of the vehicle.
6 months tax was purchased for the vehicle that started on 1st April. Once you sell the car, this triggers a refund on any unused complete months of tax. So, with the vehicle being sold at the end of April, you'd expect to see a refund of 5 months tax.
DVLA are as busy as ever. You put the sold on date correctly for the end of April, however, they don't get around to processing it on their computer systems until the first week in May.
I assume you'd still get a refund of 5 months tax - it may well not have been updated until May, however the sell date was still April.
Or, are DVLA not happy enough with "double bubble" tax on cars when they change hands mid-month and will say it's only a tax refund on unused months based on when they update their systems?
Cheers.
