I've just upgrade to a PS4 Pro and a Xbox One S and now have my original consoles for sale. Don't normally sell consoles as new ones are not usually backwards compatible but these being just upgrades are.

So I've tried MM for roughly the price I'd get from CEX but not a sniff! last time I used ebay I was stung :( So I'm thinking should I just take them to CEX? I've never sold anything to CEX but have seen people in there selling stuff and they all seem either dodgy, desperate or both which I find off putting :(

What's CEX like , is it easier than ebay, and can you just do it all online instead of going to the store?

You can do it all online and then send it to them (CEX).

I recently sold my old school One on eBay, got a very good price for it as well.

Just go in with them. Why do you even care what people may think of you for going into a shop? Rather sad really.

Just go in, tell them what you have and put it on the desk. They will ask you to give them 15min or so whilst they check them out. Go to Mcdonald's, eat burgers. Return to CEX and collect your money.

Or Ebay, cash on collection outside of ebay. This is what i did on all 3 PS4's i have sold.

Just had a look on ebay at prices and by the time youve taken fees off most don't sell for any more than CEX are offering, If they have a good clean PSVR I wouldn't mind part exchanging against that.

Yeah I know it's a bit "silly" caring what people think but honestly I've never seen a regular looking guy trading stuff in lol. does make sense to just walk in the shop though.

Do game purchase or just part exchange? I have to go to game to pick up a One S I bought via their click and collect in a couple of days

Shopto do a trade-in program as well, not sure how good the prices are though. (mind you the credit will go on a shopto account, so ignore this if you want the money back yourself).

After my recent upgrade to a PS4 I had an original PS3 with various games, bits & bobs to get rid of.
I took the often dangerous route of Ebay. Sold for £110 and the guy who bought it arranged for a courier to collect it (I'd put it up as collection only).
All went through fine etc.
Of course with Ebay they always side with the buyer, so it could all go south - but it would be a lot of hassle to scam me out of something I no longer need etc.

I can only speak of cex in Bradford and it's ****ing horrible, they break stuff you take in and then say they take it but very low price, it smells of **** and it's just horrid. Friend once took a iPhone 4s in worked fine , they had it for 30mins and said lock switch is funny doesnt alway,It wasn't he went back and they even chipped the screen. I once took consol in it did work but they didn't even test it so if that's how they are in general I'd never buy from them or sell to them

Have you done a completed listing search on ebay to get an idea of what sort of prices your consoles would go for? Despite ebay being variable in terms of reliabilty, there is a level of protection, and if the price is significantly better than CEX i'd probably chance that first....or maybe even Gumtree?

Well there's your problem! ;)

Take it to CEX, game or whatever, just avoid eBay at all cost!

If you get a dodgy buyer or courier screws up you'll be out of money and the console.

Yeah I always do the average price of last 5 similar items then minus 15% (fees) on eBay to arrive at my selling price which is about the same as CEX are offering.

I was all set to take the consoles to CEX tomorrow but after reading Mark1989's comments on CEX I'm not so sure now :(

CEX is fine. Take it in, they give you a receipt while they test it. Go back 30 minutes later and collect the cash. Sometimes they say they don't have enough cash to pay there and then and pay into your bank.

You will need photo ID.

I've used the online service 4 times and they always take 7 days to process the items, so with outward courier taking 2-5 days then it's the best part of two weeks to get your money.

Game buy used consoles too.

Plus there's always Gumtree and Shpock for fee free, face to face cash sales. Just be prepared for low ballers and resellers.

Cheers

Think I'll just go the CEX after all, I only live 10 mins away, I'm fine with them paying it all into my bank :)
