I've just replaced my laptop as the hinge appears to have broken as see below. The hinge does work and the laptop can be just about closed if you hold the screen together where the hinge is. Seems to be a regular fault on these Dells.

Laptop otherwise is in decent ondition with no noticable scratches/marks.

Spec wise it's reasonable.

Dell Inspiron 7000
Intel I7 8550U
100gb SSD and 1tb Hard Drive
8gb ram

Can anyone advise roughly how much a repair would be on this and then how much you'd expect it to reduce the price by if i sold it as it is.

Trying to decide which makes most sense.

Cost for someone to do it? No idea.
But despite being an Inspiron and not a Latitude or Precision (i.e. consumer), shouldn't Dell have a service manual?
Which should describe how to replace the hinge and the part number if you are willing to try it yourself.

Although the image (if that is the correct one), it may be that you have to prise apart the whole display panel. That image is from the fleabay from vendor selling it for around £8.
Obviously, laptops are delicate things to fix.
